our november

Well, November has been a very eventful month for us and we have been given many opportunities to be grateful for everything that we have.

Around the first of the month my nephew, Mason, was highlighted at the CanSurvive Event. It is an event that raises money for cancer victims and their families. At the event they highlight different cancer survivors with their photo on a canvas and their story. It was an amazing event and we were so grateful we were able to be a part of it. Mason is 5 1/2 years old and has been in remission from leukemia for 4 years. He is one of the many things we are grateful for.

Next up in our month was the missionary farewell of Ty's parents. Spence and Melanie were called to serve a mission for the LDS church in St. George, Utah and we were able to get together with all of the Raymonds for the farewell. It was a great day filled with yummy food and great company. His parents are now on their mission and we are so grateful that they are in good health and able to be serving the people in St. George.

That same weekend was Veteran's Day and Ty's cute neice, Abbi, and nephew, Payton, wrote 'Thank You' cards to Ty's dad, Spence, for his service in the military. It was so fun to hear stories about his time in the military and experiences there. We are so thankful for the armed forces and for the sacrifices that they make on behalf of our great country. We are so lucky to live in a free country.

We put up our Christmas tree about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving-crazy, I know, but we just couldn't help it! We are so thankful for the amazing apartment that we have to live in and for the fact that we have a Christmas Tree and are able to celebrate Christmas.

I got a new job this month-a great job with great benefits. It is what I like to call a 'real' job and I am loving it so far. It is also 5 minutes from our house, which is an extra plus! I always say that things have fallen into place for us here in SLC and this new job is just an affirmation that they have. We are so blessed, seriously.

On a very exciting note, my dad (who coaches the defensive line at Logan High School) and his team were able to play in the State Championship Football game and they pulled out a WIN! They had an undefeated record this year and we have had such fun watching them do so well. I don't have any pics of my dad-bad I know- but this one (my 2 cousins and I, snuggling at the game) will have to do. It has to be the greatest feeling in the world to work so hard all year and for it to pay off. I know my dad is still walking on air. I am so grateful that my dad has something he is so passionate about and that he has a job that allows him to still coach high school football every fall.

Last, but definitely not least, was Thanksgiving. Since Ty's parents are in St. George, we were able to go there and spend Thanksgiving with them and two of Ty's brother's and their families. My parents were also there and so we stayed with them and spent time with both families. It was perfect. Tyler got to go four-wheeling with his brothers, I went shopping with my mom and grandma, we went hot-tubbing every day, ate lots and lots of delicious food, and enjoyed the sunshine. We love St. George and are so grateful that both of our parents have homes there so that we can go and visit lots. We are also grateful for our families and for all that they bring to our lives.

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and a great November. We have realized that at the end of the day, it is so nice to reflect on what we are grateful for because it makes the not-so-great things seem so insignificant.

October

October was a busy, fun-filled month for us. WARNING - lots of pictures!

Around the first of the month Ty and I took a trip to San Clemente, California for a mini vacation. It was beautiful. Ty's sister and her family live there and they were nice enough to let us stay with them. We ate lots of yummy food, did some shopping, went surfing, hit up Balboa Island for a day, relaxed in the sun, and spent time with Ty's family. We love So Cal!

I helped throw a baby shower for one of my good friends in Logan. The crazy thing is that 2 days before we were supposed to have the shower, my pregnant friend texted me and said we would have to post pone the party. I asked why and she notified me she had the baby that morning-1 month early! Both mom and baby were doing well and perfectly healthy so we postponed the shower to a couple weeks later. The fun part was, baby Dax got to attend the shower! He is such a cute little baby boy.

And last but not least, Halloween! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays-Ty on the other hand, doesn't love it very much. When we were dating in high school, I believe he was 17 and carved a pumpkin for the first time with me! So crazy.

This Halloween, my friend Jenny and I decided, with a little push from Dallin and Morgan, to throw a friends Halloween party. It ended up being so fun and we were so glad we did it! It was a beginning to a very fun tradition. Ty and I dressed up as Rizzo and Kinicky from Grease (as dressed up as Ty gets). Our friends had some great costumes-please check out baby Cora (dressed as Cotton Candy) - her mom is so creative and talented! We had yummy drinks, dinner, and played games-what a great night.

The night before the party I was in Logan with my family while Ty was writing a legal paper and Mason, my dad, and I decided to carve pumpkins. It was so much fun! The next morning we all went to Crimson Field (best setting for a high school football game) to watch the Logan High Grizzlies beat the Herriman Mustangs in the first round of the playoffs. It was a great game and we are so excited for my dad and his team.
